Frequently Asked Questions

Is my PDF file uploaded to a server? โ–ผ
When the server conversion is used, your file is transmitted securely over HTTPS to a dedicated conversion server, processed immediately, and permanently deleted right after the converted file is returned to you. The file is never stored on disk beyond the conversion window, never read or analysed by any person, and never shared with any third party. If you prefer zero uploads, you can disable this option and use the browser-only fallback, though the output quality will be lower for complex documents.
What quality can I expect from the conversion? โ–ผ
Server-side conversion uses pdf2docx combined with LibreOffice, which together handle layout reconstruction, table detection, image extraction, header and footer preservation, and text formatting with high accuracy. Simple PDFs with standard text and basic formatting typically convert with near-perfect fidelity. Complex PDFs - such as those with multi-column layouts, unusual fonts, overlapping elements, or heavy use of graphics - may require minor manual cleanup in Word after conversion. Scanned PDFs (images of text) cannot be converted accurately without OCR, which is not currently included.
Is there a file size limit? โ–ผ
The upload limit is 50MB per file. For most documents - even long reports, contracts, and books - this is more than sufficient. Very large PDFs with hundreds of pages and many embedded images may take 30-60 seconds to process. If your PDF is larger than 50MB, consider splitting it into sections first using the PDF Splitter tool on Neetab, converting each section, then merging the resulting Word documents.
What happens if the server is not available? โ–ผ
The tool is designed with a two-stage fallback. It first attempts server-side conversion for the highest quality result. If the server is unavailable or returns an error, the tool automatically switches to a browser-based fallback using PDF.js to extract the text content. The browser fallback produces a plain-text DOCX file - formatting, tables, and images will not be preserved. A notice will be shown so you know which mode was used. For complex documents, try again later when the server is available.

About this Tool

PDF to Word conversion is one of the most commonly needed document tasks - PDFs are everywhere, but they are designed for viewing, not editing. Whether you received a contract you need to revise, a report you need to update, or a form you need to fill in, converting it to an editable Word document is often the fastest path forward. This tool uses a professional-grade conversion pipeline (pdf2docx + LibreOffice) on the server side to reconstruct the Word document as accurately as possible, preserving text styles, tables, columns, and images. For privacy-sensitive documents, the file is deleted from the server immediately after conversion. The tool also includes a client-side fallback for situations where the server is unavailable, so you can always extract the text content even if layout preservation is not possible. Compatible with Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and LibreOffice.
